Administrative Options
This tutorial is for Windows 98 and ME only. If you are a Windows XP user please see my more recent tutorials on accessibility.
You must have completed the first steps of the wizard to have arrived at this page.
The hearing impairment section has two pages. For each page, choose the option that best meets you needs, and click next to confirm.
Page 1: SoundSentryWith this option set to yes, windows will show warnings where it would usually make beeps through the internal PC speaker. It does not support noises such as 'donk' and 'uhoh' that come through your main speakers and is consequently of little use. |

Page 2: ShowSoundsThis is essentially a sub-titling service for speech in windows. But unfortunately this has to supported by the program you are using.
