Windows 98 & ME

This tutorial is for Windows 98 and ME only. If you are a Windows XP user please see my more recent tutorials on accessibility.

Start Menu

Go to Start then Programs then Accessories then Accessibility. Click on Accessibility Wizard.

If there is no sign of the wizard, you should check that it is installed.

Accessibility Wizard Page One

From the first dialogue, choose the smallest text that you can comfortably read. Note that black-on-grey might not be the best contrast for you or your pupil, but you can change this later.

Click next.

Accessibility Wizard Page Two

The next screen has three options all to help the visually impaired. The first option will set windows to the font size that you selected on the previous screen. The second option is rarely available. The third option will start the Magnifier, which will then start every time you turn on the computer.

Click next.

Accessibility Wizard Page Three

On the next screen you need to select which options you want to configure. You can select any number of options and the wizard will step through them one by one. After you have selected, click next, and follow the appropriate guides below.

Click OK.

Now choose from following options to continue the tutorial:

Visual Impairment Options
Hearing Impairment Options
