Repeating keypresses are a common problem and I have often seen a vigilant support assistant sitting next to a pupil ready to delete all the extra characters in every word.
Well you'll be pleased to hear that it's really easy to put a permanent stop to those naughty repeating keypressesssssssss...
Here's how to use FilterKeys to stop this:
Open up the Windows Control Panel by going to Start and selecting Control Panel from the menu.
If there is no Control Panel in your Start Menu then your school's technician or network administrator has stopped you from being able to access it!
Windows Key, Arrow Keys (to select Control Panel), Enter
Double-click on the 'Accessiblity Options' icon to launch the applet.
A (to select Accessibility Options), Enter
Under the keyboard tab you'll see an option called 'FilterKeys'. Put a tick in the Use FilterKeys box and click on the Settings button.
Inside the FilterKeys Settings dialog we can tell it to behave exactly as we want it to. Or at least approximately.
You can either set Windows to ignore all repeated keystrokes (i.e. you'll have to lift your finger from the key and replace it if you actually want a repeated keystroke) or you can set the repeat rate to be much slower.
I'll leave it up to you guys to figure out how to go about doing this, but the screenshot on the left should give you a clue.
Ta da!
