Albert Faber's CDEX is a small free program that lets you take, or 'rip', music off a CD and save it to your computer in either WAV or MP3 format. As well as ripping entire albums you can take single tracks or even sections of individual tracks. This is a particularly easy way of taking a short sample from a pop tune, for example.
